Product Description

The rugged cast-iron doufeu from Le Creuset has a surprise: the top of its lid is recessed in order to hold ice cubes. As a roast beef or chicken bakes inside the doufeu, hot steam hits the cold lid and condensation forms. Textured with dimples, the underside of the lid drips the moisture back into the pot for basting, resulting in rich, flavorful juices and very tender meat. You may need to replenish the ice cubes as baking progresses. The enameled doufeu is durable enough to use on any stovetop burner or in the oven, and is handsome enough to serve directly at the table.

5le Creuset Doufeu
By James Santoro
Best Dutch Oven. Meat could not be more tender. Pot Roast done 3 1/2 hours at 350 degrees is more tender than one done in slow cooker for 8-10 hours (I actually did this side-by-side test.)

4Perfect size and shape
By C
This Doufeu is the perfect size and shape for long roasts and stews. It has all the heat retaining, even heating and easy clean-up qualities of the regular Le Creuset enameled Cast Iron French Ovens.Pros:1) The oval shape keeps the liquids and other accompaniments close to the roast. The shape also enables one to put a larger roast in the same capacity pot.2) It is the perfect size and shape for a very large chicken, a duck or a mini-turkey.3) The close fit of the lid and pot help keep the roast moist.4) The little spikes on the underside of the lid are supposed to encourage condensation to drip back on to and baste the meat while it's cooking and the well on the topside of the lid is for ice-cubes and iced water to help speed that process up.5) The double handles make it easier to lift the heavy cast iron lid than the traditional single handle.6) The flatter lid makes it easy to store other large-bottomed pots and pans on top of it.Cons:1) Only available in Red or Blue in N. America.2) Heavy (as cast iron should be)3) Pricey. The Doufeu costs more than a regular oval Le Creuset of the same capacity. And Le Creuset itself is not cheap to begin with.I have this pot and I use it at least twice a week in the winter months. I have bought 2 more of these as Christmas gifts for friends and family.

5The Doufeu
By Jane M. Goff
The DoufeuI purchased my first Doufeu three days ago. I have wanted a Doufeu for some time but could not justify the cost. The first thing I cooked was a chicken. The results are a bird that is as tender and moist as butter. The broth that is rendered is a gift from the Gods and if you make soups you will know what I mean. Richly flavored and colored, the goodness and essence of all the ingredients cooked in the pot.I did not use ice, just browned the chicken and added vegetables and seasoning.I did not lift the lid too often, I am very pleased with the results.I wish I had purchased a Doufeu sooner. It is a practical and beautiful addition to my cooking tools.

4UPS driver likes the florsheim 2300 shoes
By Philip X O'Connor
As a UPS driver I'm in and out of the vehical 130 times a day over 10000 steps a day this shoe is the first shoe in 17 years that I have worn everyday and has lasted me a year with no wear on the support of the shoe nor ripping in the seams. I'm getting a new pair because the treads are worn down.

5Great work shoes!
By ROBERT C. KEAULANI
My job requires everyone to wear steel-toed shoes. I had previously worn normal work boots, bought from a retail store, that only carried regular width shoes(Sears). Because I have wide feet, I've been buying shoes at least a size bigger, to fit my wide feet. The salesman at Sears(thanks!)told me to check Sears.com. Well, I buy a lot of my favorite classical music from...Amazon. I had no idea Amazon sold shoes, and I had no idea you can buy wide shoes online. Anyway, I'm buying all my shoes from Amazon from now on. I bought a pair of shoes in the wrong size, sent them back, return postage pre-paid, to Amazon. Totally stress-free. Wonderful! I'm on my feet, on concrete, in a warehouse, 11 hours a day. Regular steel-toe work boots are okay, even if they fit good. These Florsheim shoes are far superior to any boots(I've gone through quite a few)because they are so comfortable to walk around in, and they feel softer around the feet, like regular walking shoes. After 11 hours on my feet, I'm ready to go walking for exercise with my wife in these shoes. After these wear out, I'm buying another pair. I just love them.

5Badass Boots
By Kodz
I've been wearing this boots as my fulltime footware(at least 5 days a week) for nearly 2 years now. I think aftermarket insoles are a good investment if you're going to do anything other than ride with these. Everything is holding up well on them. I oil and polish them maybe once a month. They are well-worn, but not showing any signs of dying any time soon. The stitching is still tight, the leather belts that buckle the boot down are still intact, and there is still some semblance of tread. I was wearing Red Wings before these, and I'd wear out about a pair of them in 8 months or so, despite them costing almost as much as the Chippewas. The high-rise leather works well to keep water and debris out. Almost like having a pair of mini-chaps. It also works well for concealing a large knife. The steel toe has saved me on a few occasions. It also keeps the toe of the boot hold it's shape. Despite it's combat-boot like ruggedness, it works well as a casual or even formal piece of footware. They're stylish yet very practical for a wasteland dwelling desert person like myself. You also look pretty crazy if you wear them with shorts. I think if/when these wear out, Im going to get a pair of their snake boots. They are a nearly identical version to this, but they have sturdier bite-proof materials and a sole more suited to everyday/outdoor use.

5hopefully I don't need to buy another pair of boots in 5 years, if not longer
By G. Xin
I ordered it on [...] in size 6. Yeah I'm a girl who likes big boots. I had been doing research on tall engineer boots for 2 weeks before actually bought it. After checking Frye and chippewa in local stores I decided to go for chippewa. the 1st consideration is price of course. God knows why women's boots are so much expensive than men's. Frye's 15" Engineer boots for women are $[...] more expensive than Chippewa's. The 2nd reason is quality. For some reason, several Frye boots of the same style use very different leather. And each pair feels different from another when u step ur feet in. i can't help but doubt the actual quality of their boots. With Chippewa, at least all the boots I have seem are of the same quality, and they are all confortable to wear. Some ppl are complaining about the belts on 11" Chippewa engineer boots. Unfortunately I have to say they are right. The leather used for these belts is not very good. But for me, a non-proffesional biker they are nothing but decoration. So yeah I am happy with these boots. Hopefully I don't need to buy other boots in 6 years if not longer.
