5THE best Vacuum Cleaner choice, does the job by cleaning great!
By A4Q96
Pros: It is a reasonably priced (less than half the price of a Dyson!), reasonably quiet, has a reputation for durability, picks up cat hair (yea!), and has a nice long cord so you are not having to move your plug around every room.Cons: Haven't found any yet... I guess the one thing some people will dislike is that it's a big yellow monster, so it doesn't have the style cachet of a Dyson or even Hoover. But it's a vacuum cleaner, so I quickly got over that.I stressed over our vacuum cleaner purchase more than I should have. I read the Amazon reviews, Consumer Reports, Consumer Search, and any other site I could find.At the end of the day I came down to this vacuum and the Hoover U8173 Savvy TurboPower... Amazon's reviews of the Hoover U8173 Savvy TurboPower vacuum were limited in number but all positive; however, there was a mixed story out on the web on other sites/reviews about it. There were a few others that I absolutely ruled out after finding killer issues:Dyson: destroys berber carpets AND costs $500Hoover Tempo: only $70 or so, but seems to have some durability issues and no onboard tools.Eureka: Not well built based on reviews and personal experienceThis Carpet Pro is thus far amazing. The night it came, I vacuumed and it picked up every piece of dirt and lots I couldn't see. It was also quiet enough that it did not wake my sleeping kids.Three other observations:1) I did not order this exact model - I got the CPU-2T model with on-board accessory tools.. I couldn't find that model on Amazon so I ordered it from EZVacuum... And I paid the same price WITH tools as most other stores had the CPU-2 (the model without tools) because of a 10% off coupon... The tools work well - intuitive to use and the hose is sufficiently long for me. I have already e-mailed several Amazon stores to add the CPU-2T as I would have rather bought the vacuum on Amazon.2) This vacuum is not well known... It took a lot of hunting to learn about it, though two reviews I read were from Vacuum repairmen, who said it was the most durable, trouble-free vacuum they see. I knew it was a bit of a risk to buy a relatively lesser known vacuum. But it is commercial grade3) We have a cleaning person come for occasional "deep cleaning" of our house - she loved the vacuum. Since she is someone who has lots of experience with different choices, I thought this was a good indicator that the Carpet Pro is a keeper!--------UPDATE July 09: We have had this vacuum now for about 9 months, and still love it. It picks up dirt and dust as well as it did when it was new, and behaves like it is indestructible. The only thing I don't love are the bag changes - not the neatest, but well worth the effort!--------Update Nov 09: Still going strong - no issues, and cleans as well as the day we got it! One additional comment - it is great for pet hair - the onboard tools do a nice job of snapping pet hair up, and what it doesn't get I use a lint roller on.

4A Great Vacuum!
By A. Long
I bought this same vacuum 2 years ago. Mine is the exact same except it is not commercial. The only difference is the commercial one has a slightly longer cord. This vacuum is great! I bought the Carpet Pro to take with me to the beach for cleaning cottages. I can't tell you how many times it was dragged from house to house. It stood up to the abuse test. The long cord is very convenient if you have a large house. It vacuums carpets with ease, and the dirt bags felt like they weighed a ton when full. They hold alot and this vacuum does not lose suction when the bag is reaching its maximum capacity. I also ordered the hard floor tools package which was a waste of 100.00. The hose wouldn't stay on the port and the suction to the attachments was poor. I purchased this from an online store after talking to the owner. He told me the motor was all metal, and the bottom plate of the vac is metal too. This vacuum works great for carpet, especially in large houses. I used it many, many times and the belt never broke. Now that's saying something about a vacuum. I had a Hoover Wind Tunnel Self-Propelled and all it gave me was trouble. The belts on that one stayed broken! I would definitely consider this vacuum!

5Unbelievable Vacuum and Value
By TSS
I absolutely love this vacuum. I researched vacuums for awhile before deciding on this one. It works GREAT on both carpets and hardwood floors. I was actually pretty surprised at how well it picked up the dog hair (we have 2 labs) on the hardwood floors. It did not blow the hair around like our other vacuum. It is light, not noisy, easy to push and has an unbelievably long cord, which I love! I vacuumed 2 rooms without unplugging! I think this is an unbelievable value for the price. GREAT, GREAT VACUUM!

5A Top-Notch Universal DVD Player
By Marshall Schwartz
There's no need to take anybody else's word for specs on this Sony DVD player when you can view or download, for free, the user's manual at http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/model-documents.pl?mdl=DVPNS90V&LOC=3. I've been running this Sony DVP-NS90V player through a Sony widescreen HDTV and a Pioneer amplifier/receiver for several days now, and I find almost none of the problems and limitations mentioned by previous reviewers. One, for example, states that there is "no bass management," yet you can (a) route more or less signal to the subwoofer by selecting "small" or "large" for the front speaker size (see page 76 of the user's manual), and also (b) increase or decrease the bass from -15 dB to +5 dB (see page 77 of the manual). Whether you prefer analog to digital audio, or you think SACD's are tops, is a matter of opinion, taste and choice and not an objective evaluation of a playback unit. I, for one, prefer DVD-Audio, and I mention this for an important reason: Some product ads and the user's manual clearly warn that this unit "will NOT play DVD-Audio discs." Happy surprize: it most certainly will! For my DVD-A's that have optional Dolby 5.1 and/or DTS tracks, the player simply ignores the primary DVD-A format (normally output via the 6 analog cable connectors) but still plays the Dolby or the DTS via the digital audio (optical or coaxial) connectors. For "pure" DVD-A's (without Dolby 5.1 or DTS tracks), it conveniently outputs the audio BOTH via the 6 analog AND the digital connectors. And in all cases above, the audio is full multi-channel surround, and not downmixed to 2-channel PCM, nor Prologic pseudo-surround. The only DVD-A function it lacks is the video slideshow often included on DVD-A's, and so displays only the "jacket image" onscreen. The Quick Setup allows any DVD newbie to be up and running in a short time. And the Custom Setup is so detailed with so many fine tweaks and trouble-shooters that it's bound to please even the high-end audio-video geek-freaks. In short, you'll find this to be a superior universal player, provided you read the user's manual (all 84 pages of it!), follow it, and connect equally high-quality, compatible equipment capable of exploiting its many fine features.

4If you're looking for great picture and sound look no further
By Terrence H. Huntington
First off, lets look at the good things about this player. It does a wonderful job upscaling to 720p and is also great at 1080i and 480p. It doesn't suffer the "macroblocking" of the competitors DCDI processing. It is built well and looks good. You can change the front display to auto dark or off. Picture controls such as sharpness (which you don't need)picture (contrast)brightness and color. It also remembers these settings when you power down. It also has a 6 disc memory which is nice. The Cons,Well there are only two things that bother me, one of which is hopefully going to to fixed by a firmware update (who knows with Sony)What it does is shift the image down and squeeze the image slightly on 720p and even more so on 1080i. At 480p it doesn't do this, but you loose some detail at that setting. This problem bothers me, but not to the point where I want to return it. The pic quality is outstanding! The other thing that bothers me is that it's silver and doesn't have menu navigation controls on the front panel....thats it! Anyway, if you are not really bothered by the "vertical shift" issue when upscaling, then GO FOR IT! I'm sorta a video geek and I'm keeping it, so that says somthing. And just as a side note, the lower model, the 70h, does the same thing.

5Great DVD Player
By James Bailey
I decided to buy this yesterday from Fry's since the prices were the same (199); of course it's 40 dollars cheaper today but...It was well worth it. I went through my DVD collection watching portions of about 5 different movies I watch often. I see details in these DVDs I've never seen before and the sound is also a lot clearer using the HDMI connection. I don't notice the shift other people are talking about but I don't consider myself an expert in such things. Unless there's a glaring defect I usually don't notice.I'm glad I bought it and can't wait to watch some more DVDs.

4Excellent, but not without faults
By ultraconsumer
I wish I could give stars in halves; this product would get a solid 4.5 from me. Rounding up to a 5 would mean folks who aren't taking the time to read the review might assume that there's really no room for improvement, but there is.After reading this review you might think I work for Powerblock or something, but I don't. When you're spending between $150-400 on a set of "high performance" adjustable dumbbells, applying a bit of logic can go a long way for your satisfaction and safety.***AREAS THAT COULD USE IMPROVEMENT***To help counteract the perceived bias I might have, I'm gonna try something different; I'm going to start with the CONS of the Powerblocks.1. The magnets in the selector pin could be stronger. As a safety measure, there are magnets in the pin that hold it against the bars on the side of the weight stack, reducing the chance of it slipping out during an exercise. This makes a lot of sense, but the magnets are pretty weak. During some pretty basic exercises the magnets will come lose and lose their hold. Now don't get freaked out -- it's not like the pin flies out and it's scary to work out (there is an elastic band acting as a backup safety also). I'm talking like millimeters here; I can see that the pin has moved just enough where you can tell the magnets aren't holding. Rather than a whole bunch of cheap magnets within the pin, two small high-quality earth magnets would give a better hold while still being pretty easy to remove.2. The weight selection process can be a bit finicky on carpet or non-flat surfaces. Because there may be a bit of shift in the weight stack on carpet, sometimes it's tricky to stick the weight pin in correctly. I recommend leaving these weights on a hard surface while in use, or better yet get the sport tray/stand to accompany them.3. The pin can be put in crooked across two different weights. If you're not paying attention (and you should be!), it's somewhat easy to put the pin in crooked so that it crosses two weights. You will probably notice this right away when you go to pick up the weight, and it's not that big of deal since the pin still holds onto the heavier weight, but possibly re-engineering the pin shape or something could help prevent this entirely.****POWERBLOCK VS. THE COMPETITION****Okay, now here's the part where you assume I work for Powerblock. Let me say that this set of dumbbells (and the Powerblock line in general) is a MUCH better choice than the SelectTechs (STs). While comparing these 24-pounders to the 52 pound SelectTech's isn't really fair simply for weight comparison reasons, I wanted to point out why I think this line is vastly superior: 1. The Bowflex SelectTech 552 Dumbbells (I'll call them STs) are the same width whether you pick up 5 pounds or 52.5 pounds. And by the way, they are WIDE -- about 16" each. Imagine doing curls with 5 pounds per hand and needing THIRTY TWO INCHES across to do it -- makes for an uncomfortable curl, especially for narrower people. The Powerblocks (PBs), on the other hand, are narrower and more compact the less weight you add. All the stuff you don't need is left on the floor, not in your hand. 2. The STs require you to turn TWO dials to appropriate number on each dumbbell. There are 15 different weight settings on the STs, so what if your next weight is on the opposite side of the dial? That's right, it will require EIGHT CLICKS PER SIDE OF EACH DUMBBELL to pick up the new weight. That means it takes between 4 (minimum) and 32 (maximum) clicks of the dial to change weights each time. And you can't just flick the dials, either. The PBs, on the other hand, require two moves no matter what weight you're selecting: pull the pin out, put the pin in. Period. 3. The STs, while far "cooler" looking, have a lot of plastic on them. Pick a set up at your local Sports Authority and see if you can tell how the weigh selector mechanism works. Then, consider how durable (and potentially unsafe) you think your $400 weights would be if you dropped them. The PBs are mostly metal, with the inner handle being the only thing that contains plastic, and it's not cheapo plastic either. If you drop them, I'm guessing they'd hold up fine, although I wouldn't recommend it. 4. With the STs you HAVE to have the base to set the handles back into due to the design of the product. If you didn't have a tray to hold all the weights that were left behind, it'd be a nightmare to put the handles back together and try and switch to another weight. In fact, I'd like to see someone try =) The PBs are self-contained, so they work fine without the stand. The weights that you don't pick up stay in a compact stack that won't move.********CONCLUSION AND SUMMARY********Aside from those gripes, I really enjoyed these Powerblocks. In fact, I grew out of them and traded up to the Sport 9.0 model (which I will review separately). If 24 pounds per arm is enough for your routine, it's an absolute no-brainer to pick these guys up. Note that Amazon has built in the shipping cost to the price of these dumbbells. (Edit 5/25/2012: I noticed today that Amazon is no longer including the shipping price in the cost. For 150 shipped free, these are a great deal! Edit 12/21/2012: Shipping cost of $34 is built in to the price again on Amazon. When this happens, try and find locally to save 20%!)PROS+ Much more compact than the competition+ Quick weight changes to ANY weight+ Well built/durable+ Great price on the lower weight set (if 24 is all you need)CONS- Magnets in pin could be stronger- Doesn't work quite as well on carpet- Possible to put the pin in crooked if you're not paying attention

5Great adjustable dumbell set
By Joey
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R3E3VG28MZH6FS The power block dumbbells is my first adjustable dumbbell set i have bought. I love the size of it as i can store it just about anywhere and yet be able to lift weight anywhere from 6-24 pounds. The only problem with it as others have mentioned is that you might mess up getting the pin in straight to adjust the weights but it is easy to figure out when u have messed it up. Another annoying thing about the dumbbells set is while ur working out the plate hit each other and u hear an annoying clunking sound

4My favorite adjustable dumbbells and the best of the PowerBlock series
By Patrick D. Goonan
I really like this product because it is compact and not as cumbersome as the larger sets. For most people, this will suit their needs and they can get an upgradable set later on. The small size allows almost everyone to perform conventional exercises with proper form. With the larger PowerBlocks, this is a concern because of added bulk and length. The square shape of these dumbbells allows the manufacturer to put more weight in a smaller place. This makes these much smaller than other rounded adjustable dumbbells over the same weight range and increments. From a safety perspective, I also think these are the safest and most rugged adjustable dumbbells. However, this does not mean that nothing can go wrong. You need to be conscious of inserting the pins straight across and the pin mechanism right side up so the magnets engage to hold the pins together. There is a also a backup elastic band to prevent a plate from falling, but this might not save you in an overhead triceps extension. This product is rugged and well made. It is less likely to break then some other brands and the concept is simple behind how the adjustments work. In other words, there are less things to break or go wrong and I believe these can take a fairly hard fall and still be fine. I haven't dropped mine, but I base this assumption on the way they are designed and the quality of the materials and how they are put together.I would definitely purchase these if you do circuit training and want to keep your pulse up. If you become serious, you can buy an expandable set over a larger range later. This is great entry point product.

5Love it
By Matt
I was looking for a shrug/trap bar for a few weeks, just trying to decide on a perfect one. I already bought the Troy VTX 300LB weight set so I figured I'd spend the extra money and buy this bar made by Troy. It's quality matches the 300 pound set nicely. It's a very nice looking chrome bar with solid welds, doesn't look sloppy at all. The bar is actually different than whats pictured on Amazon. The bar has the raised handles AND also the regular flat handles. That was another plus for me. It also weighs a little over 50 pounds.

Good product, handles surges better then most in its watts class. Works best with the engine running. Load LED's is exactly what it says, just lights. Unit does not shut down when battery level reaches 10.5 like most. It will work till your battery is dead.

5Suprabar Curl Bar
By A. House
Although the name is a bit misleading (there's nothing "cable" related on this bar) the product is exactly as it looks in the picture. This bar allows you to curl heavy weights without putting pressure on arm tendons. It adjusts to your natural grip and targets the bicep very well. I highly recommend this bar to anyone who has trouble with pain when curling with a standard W bar.

5Best Curl Bar Ever Designed!
By Jake Overfield
I have always had problems with my forearms hurting when doing arm curls with either a preacher curl bar or a straight bar. The Supra Curl bar solved this problem! The way this bar is designed is perfect. You can do arm curls comfortably with no forearm pain! I hightly recommend this product. This is the best investment I have made in my weight room.

5Best curl bar ever
By V. Cajo
I've been dealing with a persistent tendinitis in my right wrist for over two years. After the initial injury (inflammation) went away I still had constant discomfort and tenderness every time after doing curls or after long day at work (keyboard use). The discomfort was the worst right after doing curls though. Tried everything - ezcurlbar, dumbells, etc, but nothing worked. Then I found this product and decided to try it out as I was running out of options. It's been around four months since I've had it and the tendinitis is finally gone. Design of this product is phenomenal - two handles rotate freely which allows you to rotate your wrists while lifting the bar, rather than having them locked in unnatural position. I recommend this to anyone who has any sort of discomfort while curling - it's worth every penny.
