works well, but only in certain types of chairs

First off, this model of the UPEASY SEAT ASSIST is the UPE 1 and has a max wgt capacity of 220 lbs (ignore the 340 lbs stated in the "Product Description" on this webpage as that is the max capacity of the UPE 3 model). This device opens to a height of 10 inches, is two inches high when lowered, and the seat is 19 inches deep and 17 inches wide (for both the UPE 1 and 3 models - don't understand why the UPE 3 doesn't have a wider seat since its made for heavier users). And, as this product weighs just 9 lbs and is NOT electric powered, it can easily be transported just about anywhere (incidentally, I'm not sure, but I don't think that it will fit into a standard-sized "rollator" walker basket). The SEAT ASSIST comes with a washable slip on cover and the seat is vinyl or some other type of water resistant material, so it can be wiped with soap and water, but be advised that the moulded seat is on the hard side and the provided slip cover is not really padded, so it may be a good idea to purchase a thick-padded, TIGHT-FITTING slip on cover elsewhere or just sew a cushion or some padding onto the top of the provided slip on cover (btw, do not use this device with a "loose" cushion, as it may slide off the seat, causing YOU to go with it).The SEAT ASSIST is claimed to lift "up to 70% of your weight", which is more or less true, and is made for individuals who require SOME assistance in rising up from a chair (UPEASY also makes an electric-powered model called the POWER SEAT, which can lift 100% of a user's weight, but really isn't designed for people with large bottoms - the seat is just 16 inches wide - or who weigh over, say, 240 lbs despite having a stated weight capacity of 300 lbs). Because this model uses a pneumatic gas spring as the lifting mechanism and becuz it is the user's bodyweight that holds it closed (when you are "fully" seated), it has to be manually adjusted and tested after purchasing to take into account how much you weigh and how much lifting "assistance" you require to get up. To rise up from a chair (and the SEAT ASSIST), you simply lean slightly forward, which will shift your centre of gravity forward, and begin to stand and the lifting arm inside the seat will activate. Becuz one has to shift/move their body forward under one's own power, it is VERY advisable to only use this device on chairs that have sturdy armrests (that preferably extend as far forward as the seat of the chair) or when there is someone at hand in case you lose your balance. It also goes without saying that the SEAT ASSIST works best if used on FLAT, LEVEL, (relatively) HARD, STURDY chairs, such as dining room chairs, park benches, church pews, etc, which will allow the device to utilize maximum leverage AND keep it from moving during ingress/egress (for the latter reason, I recommend that the SEAT ASSIST be used only in chairs the seats of which are the same depth or just a bit deeper than that of the device's, which is, again, 19 inches).Incidentally, I researched and tested this product for my aunt, but decided against buying it for her becuz the dimensions of this product made it actually TOO wide and deep for her and becuz she weighs less than the LOWER weight capacity for the SEAT ASSIST (95 lbs), which made the model unsuitable for her due to its being powered by a pneumatic spring. However, I did get her a POWER SEAT for her fav armchair (becuz that model is electric-powered AND lifts 100% of a person's weight, her small stature wasn't really relevant) and also a couple of EZ UP CHAIR RISERS for something to grasp onto and allow her to fully utilize her arms when rising.
