Laziness, or full concentration?

It's amazing what you can find out there, to make your life more convenient, to help you immerse yourself in activities that you enjoy.This review is about the stand model, but until recently I had only the desk model.Now, the desk model works fine, as long as you happen to have a surface which the clamp will fit around, and which is strong enough to hold the book & bookholder. However, if you want to recline on the sofa, depending on your circumstances, it can be inconvenient to place a table close enough to the sofa. When you're finished reading and want to get up, you then have to move the table before your feet can reach the floor.Enter the Levo stand model.I purchased the second edition of Nassim Taleb's Black Swan last week, and decided to hold off on reading it until the Levo stand unit came in. Good move; Nassim's diatribes seem more tolerable and even humorous, when you can relax and remain focused on the material.Also, it's convenient when you need to study and take notes at the same time. The book just 'hovers' there in midair so to speak, leaving your hands free to take notes on your iPad, laptop, or paper.It's very easy to move this thing around (but only on the same floor. if you want to move it from one floor to another, you might be better off with the desktop model), and to adjust your book to wherever you are comfortable. E.g., if you are near-sighted and not wearing your glasses or contacts, then of course you pull it closer.If you have a massage chair, you can get a good massage while reading your novel or textbook. Although the bookholder has a single basic purpose, it is flexible in the ways that you can use it.The fact of not having to hold the book seems - and this is subjective, of course - to improve one's concentration. You'll have to test that for yourself. It is a much more enjoyable way to read, no question about that.The Levo Bookholder won't make you mentally lazy, but it will spoil you.

I am a compulsive reader, but my neck has about an ounce of titanium in it to hold it still. I probably couldn't read for more than 15 minutes if I had to hold the book up so my head and neck are in a proper posture; it would drop to 2-3 minutes if I had to look down at a book in my lap. A book-holder like this is a godsend. If you need something as much as I did, the price should not stop you. Save up for a couple of months, if you must, as I did. The first one I bought (the floorstand model) has worked perfectly. I am now saving up for the table mounted model to replace the jerry-rigged book-holder by my bed.

This is the best book stand I've ever had, and I've tried countless models/brands over the years. Neck/back issues require me to read without bending my neck to look down for any length of time. This completely solves that problem - no more setting my book holder on a stack of books on a table to read; no table even required now. This sits by my living room chair, but I can roll it into another room easily to use it there, which I've done several times. It works well at either side of chair (actually near the front corner of chair), or in front of me, at any height or angle I choose. The description mentions 6 positions. I'm not sure what this means, since it seems almost infinitely adjustable to me. There hasn't been a position I've tried to put it in that couldn't be accomplished by swiveling/tilting the backboard, or by positioning the articulating arm. It's well made, very sturdy, nothing flimsy about it. And it's attractive, too. I've had it for several weeks & use it every day. I have no complaints about it. Here are some things you can't tell from the pictures or description:1. It rolls easily from room to room, but it weighs 35 lbs so I wouldn't want to take it up/down stairs often.(And I'm not sure how good it would be for the stand to be lifted & carried frequently?)2. It has a footprint of about 13", plus about 1 1/4" on whichever side the swiveling wheels stick out on.3. If like me you like to frequently carry your book around from room to room, or often take it with you when you leave home, you will find that you can't pick up your book & go as quickly now: there are rectangular pads behind which you've positioned the front & back covers and pages, fastened on by velcro straps (none of which shows in the pictures), & a page holder clip on each side. Although this is all quite easy to do (much quicker & easier than it sounds, and a very efficient way of holding your book securely in place), it does require an extra step, both when taking the book off the stand & when putting it back on, that I'd rather not deal with multiple times a day. So I keep one book on this holder, but always have another book in action to grab & go.4. I find that if I have a book attached to the stand, and I want to read a few pages of computer printout, for example, I can just snap the pages behind the page-holder clips without distrubing the book, which is nice. But anything heavier, like a full magazine, requires removal of the book so that the magazine's back cover can rest on the four half-inch wide supports that stick out 3/4" from the bottom of the back-board for a book/magazine to rest upon. For that reason, I wish those supports stuck out farther, like another half inch or so, so that I could leave my book on there and read a magazine, too, if the book wasn't too thick or heavy. That's not a complaint, but it would make a very nice product even more versatile.I'm very glad I purchased this excellent stand, and wish I'd tried it years ago. Levo put a lot of good design into this product.
