Bright light, short life

The Stinger XT HP is rated at 40,000 peak candlepower and I must say that's pretty darn bright. In fact, it's brighter than a 6 D-cell Maglite that's almost the length of a walking stick...well maybe not that long, but you get the picture. The Stinger XT HP produces a strong focused beam (adjustable) that can be seen from far away, producing usable light to a distance of over 100m (~330ft). This allows the light to be used as a short-range spotlight for looking into a forest canopy, etc. The machined aluminum construction appears sturdy but the battery does rattle a little bit inside the casing. However, my major complaints with the light are its 1hr battery life and 30hr bulb life.PROS-Super bright-Tough aluminum housing-Water resistant (O-ring sealed tailcap)-CompactCONS-Xenon bulb only lasts 30hrs-Full battery charge ONLY lasts 1hr (10hrs to charge w/ SteadyCharger, 2.5hrs w/ FastCharger)-On/Off switch located only on tailcap (I don't mind this, but some people might)Bottom Line: If you want a tough, super bright AND compact flashlight, and you don't mind a short battery life, then the Stinger XT HP is for you.

STINGER XT HP

After much research on quality rechargeable flashlights, I settled on the STINGER XT HP. So far everything has been as advertised. What I really like is the mounting charger that I have installed in my eighteen wheeler, right next to the cigarette lighter. It holds my light secure and charges at the same time. I am convinced that I made a great choice with this flashlight!

Streamlight helps keep you flying safe!

I am in Aircraft Maintenance, working the 3rd shift. It goes without saying that I do most of my work around aircraft without the light of day. The Stinger HT HP is just what I was hoping for in a flashlight, durability and a good strong beam. The beam produced by this flashlight is somewhat yellowish, but bright enough to see the tip of the vertical stabilizer on a B767. If you can purchase this flashlight for less than $90, it's very worth it. I did have my eye on the next one up, the Super Stinger XT HP, which was supposed to be nearly twice as bright, but I opted not to because the flashlight was a bit longer than I was willing to carry around all night (if you are someone that is over 6' tall, go for the Super Stinger).
