Great product and company

This cargo rack for my ford escape is great it is very well designed and will hold every thing that i plan on putting in it. the tubing is only 3/4 inch aluminum so this is not a HEAVY duty rack, but i would say that any one with any common sence should be able to put it to very effective use; for many years. also the weight of aluminum makes attatching this to your vehicle much easier... two people is nice but not nessicary.[...]

Great machine; software buggy with Mac

Received the DS-2300 yesterday. The machine is a keeper. However, if you are thinking of buying this because of it's Mac compatibility, read on.The DSS Player software installs OK but the first time you connect the recorder with the supplied USB cord, an error pops up that the system extension was not properly installed, that it should be either reinstalled or a replacement obtained from the vendor.Many of the software functions do not work because of the issue with the extension. Although you can see the device as a drive and the file import function works, none of the functions in the download area of the software are available. You cannot download a folder from that menu, you cannot change the user name, rename a folder on the machine, set the time from the computer, etc.I paid to activate DSS Player Plus so I can use the software to either split or join files. I tried to split a file a couple of times. It doesn't work, the software crashes and in the process only one half of the split is completed.I spoke with Olympus tech support on the phone about this hoping to find out there's a replacement driver. No. They confirmed the DSS Player does not run well with Mac OS X (10.4+). No information on when there may be an update.An email 5 days later from Olympus Tech Support in answer to the same question basically claimed the problem is Apple's fault.Next question. I can find nothing in the documentation that indicates whether the unit will work with the new M-type XD cards larger than 512MB. On the phone, tech support said I could run the firmware update that's on the OlympusAmerica website and that the unit would work with the 1GB XD card.However, the email from tech support 5 days later says there is no firmware update for the DS-2300 (it's on their website as an EXE file - I could do the update with a PC), and that the M-type XD cards cannot be used with the DS-2300.Today I noticed that the description for the firmware update on their website has been changed and now lists the 1GB M-XD card as one of those that can be used.Sounds like a case of "your mileage may vary".

Excellent Product

If you are doing professional dictation this is the best machine for the job. Each time you stop to listen and possibly edit or continue, this machine does NOT create additional files/folders! Many recorders automatically create a folder which becomes a secretaries nightmare. The 2300 is easy to use and the dss file format is a high compression which means the files are much smaller than wma. Quality of sound is superb. I would highly recommend this recorder. Mark

DS-2300 A lot of juice

I started with the DS-2300 a month ago. I have also been using the smaller WS-100 for some 10 months but let me confine my comments to only the DS-2300.It is my habit to download instruction manuals and read them thoroughly before I buy them. The DS-2300 was no exception. At the risk of repeating what others have already written, let me be brief in my comments:Pros - many:Sound quality, clear display of various info on the LCD, features like Appending additional recording to the end of the current or an old file, Inserting recording anywhere in the middle of an existing file, Reviewing recording while recording, Overwriting existing recording, CUE function, the extremely useful VCVA (no sound, no recording) function and the unlimited storage facilities by the use of xD cards.I am not qualified to comment on the additional functions that are said to be available by the use of optional software as I have not bought any.Cons - only a few:1. There is no choice of playing a file fast or slow in addition to normal playback. 2. One has to play the files one by one in a folder, but cannot play all the files in a folder continuously one after the other. This feature, available in the WS-100, would be useful to play songs.3. The DSS-format is not suitable for sending recordings by email. It cannot be read by the universally available Windows Media Player. Although the recipients of the emails can download the free "mini-player" software from Olympus to open the emailed files, it is cumbersome. It would be ideal if WMA format is also made available in the DS-2300 or a firmware be made available to convert the DSS-format into .wma format.I bought a one-GB xD picture card, type H. My DS-2300, which was among the later batches, recognized the card. However, the use of type H, which is very fast, is an overkill and waste of money. It is more suitable for DSLR cameras. I had originally thought that I could use it both in the DS-2300 and in my Evolt E-500 camera. I now find that it is not practicable to use the same card in both the equipments.For the DS-2300, the M type card would be ideal if this recorder is also used to store songs and the recorder used like a music player. If only voice recordings are to be made, a standard type card with say 64 or 128 mb would more than suffice. Generally, it is advisable to download the recordings to the computer often.Although, the DS-2300 is not meant to be a music player, I use it as one. I play a CD or a downloaded song on the computer, for example, and record it through the microphone jack of the DS-2300 connecting it to the computer. The DS-2300 records the music as if it were a voice recording in the DSS-format. I record several songs consecutively in each file. I enjoy the music anywhere I like. A one-GB card should accommodate a few hundred songs depending upon the sizes of the songs. I have already saved some 50 songs.Incidentally, during my travels with my family, I used a cassette recorder to record the voices of my family members even some 25 years ago. I now replay some of the recordings, save them in the DS-2300, replay any particular file and add my comments where I want. It is not only fun but also recording of family history like photographs - except in this case voice recordings.Unlike camera forums, I have not come across any forum dedicated to voice recorders. It would be useful to discuss issues in such forums.Summing up:The DS-2300 has many features. I tested all of them. Everything worked fine. Print the manual and study it thoroughly. You can then squeeze the entire juice out of it. I like this model.ameer

Doge is a fun area majority game

At first I thought Doge was going to be some lame El Grande clone. Area majority, has a "special" area, made in 2000.I was wrong though. It's very cool, and totally different.While the board is an area divided map of Venice, the theme is totally pasted on. The game features no adjacency rules, so you may as well have 6 boxes with different symbols in them for "scoring regions" and another special box as a "leverage / utility region".Each round prior to scoring the players must blind bid 3 of the region cards with at least one influence token on it. The players are given 7 tokens: 3322110. These cards and tokens are chosen each round in turn, and the tokens are placed face down (values hidden) on the area that the card indicated. Each player has one card representing each region, and can only play once in each region each round.After those three bidding turns are over, all 7 of the regions are evaluated in turn. The player with influence majority (the highest value of the face down influence tokens in the region) takes control of the "advisor"(?) of the region and may place him in any of the other 5 normal scoring regions. This advisor counts as one extra point of influence when the region is scored in it's turn. In lieu of placing this advisor, you can place him off the board and move one of your houses in a different region to the region you just won, or from the region you just won into a different region.So where do the houses come in? When you win majority (or tie for the win of majority) in a region, you get to place two of your houses in the region. If you come in second (or tie for second) you get to place one. It's only if you have more influence in the region than any other player that you get to use the advisor.The houses are very important: they upgrade to palaces. Depending on how quickly you get your houses into a region, you'll be able to convert a certain number of them into a palace. And having palaces in the different regions is the end game condition and how you win the game.Each region has a number of different palace slots in it, with numbers indicating the number of houses it takes to do the house/palace upgrade. If you're the first person to get 3 houses in, you get a palace there. The next person needs 4 to get a palace, and so on. If you're the first to get a palace in all 6 regions, you win. Or if you get 7 palaces in 5 regions, you win. Or 8 in 4.It's a game of tactical bidding, to try and get houses on the board. The more houses you get on the board, the more likely it is that you're going to be able to convert those houses into palaces. By gaining a clear majority, you get the advisor which will help you in gaining these majorities, but sometimes you want to adjust assets you already have on the board (houses, that is) to different regions so you can concentrate your efforts into obtaining a majority you want. So you might want to try to win a region you don't want a palace in simply because it puts two houses on the board which you can later move to a more contested region that you need assets in.There is one other way to move these houses around, and to introduce these "tipping point" advisors into play: the special "leverage / utility" region. If you gain majority here by placing your influence tokens in this region, you get two advisors you can use. They work just like all the other advisors: move a house, or get an extra point of influence where you want it. You can use them to ninja a palace somewhere, or place them into a region that nobody bid on (or only one person bid on) to get majority or second place (extra houses in a region at least, with the possibility to place another advisor!). If you come in second in this region, you get a the third advisor.The thing with these advisors is that they swap hands. So if I had the Region A advisor last turn, and I have it in Region B (and maybe I'm kind of taking it for granted that it will stay there when that region is scored) and somebody steals that advisor from me by during the Region A scoring, it can throw a monkey wrench into your plans. One point of influence doesn't seem like a lot, but it can be a 2 point swing in influence between two players. Winning majority is a multifaceted thing.You can kind of project what's going to happen, or at least what the risks are. When each region is being evaluated in turn, the order is determined by cards that have been shuffled and dealt out onto the board at the beginning of the turn. Each each time a region is evaluated, one of the hidden cards (shuffled and dealt face down) is turned up (this is to help you project what's going to be happening in future turns - you always see this order 6 or 7 cards out; it's used to help you place the advisors to your advantage). But even though you can tell what's going on, at least your first game is going to be played by the seat of your pants. But there's definitely the possibility (with familiarity) that you can successfully project your devious master plan for the round to mess with your opponents.I like Doge a lot. I'm a fan of area majority, and while this game is mechanically simple (play your cards and tokens, evaluate, rinse and repeat), there's a lot going on and important decisions going on when you actually do win a majority.The game that I played last night I won. In the last round, both Don and I met the end game condition: he had one palace in each of the 6 different scoring regions, while I had 7 palaces in 5. The primary tie breaker is the number of palaces you have on the board, so I got the win. It could have pretty easily gone the other way, and I was actively working against Don at the end of the game to thwart him gaining a majority (but he was shifting around houses and still ended up getting another palace!).The game is fun, and tense. Lots of interesting decisions to make, trying to get a sense of the whole, gauging the other player's interests as well as your own. I was setting aside three regions at the start of my hand, planning ahead, playing them in order of least important to most important (soas not to give information away based on the number of tokens that I played into an important region so another could come along and try to thwart me).One thing we started doing as stuff started to get tense was to start concealing our bid during the blind bidding phase. We'd take our region card and place it face down, and then palm our bid and place it on top of the card. The remaining influence tokens would also be palmed in our other hand (so as not to give away the number of tokens we were going to play into the region at hand).That's the game! It's fun; you should try it.

Shame, shame, shame now everybody knows your name!

I used this fragrance and approximately 2 hours later it had worn off!I have bought the same Prada elsewhere before, so I knew that this Prada I bought from Stores123 was watered down.This perfume was refillable and came with an atomiser. I could see how Stores123 watered the perfume down, due to a removable cap to replace with the atomiser, perfume can be poured out or something poured into the bottle.To charge almost $85.00 for this perfume and for it to be watered down is disgusting!I suppose Stores123 employees thinks consumers are dumb and just may not know, what they fail to realize some consumers like myself have had the top quality of this product before.I asked for a refund, but before I did, I intentionally doused myself with this perfume again to have made sure I just may have used too little the first time, and it was still the same result. I was offered $50.00 back. I insisted I wanted a complete refund. The man from Stores123 told me they were offering me $50.00 because I was going to get to keep the perfume!I told him he could have the perfume back(it's a policy for stores to not accept liquids back for safety and health reasons). I was told by him that he would have to talk with his colleagues about the full refund.Now when he tried to bargain with me, I knew immediately watering down this perfume is exactly what they had done! I wouldn't pay $35.00 for this watered down perfume!I would have to say, anytime a refillable bottle of perfume is purchased, you'd better get it from a high end reputable store and or know and trust who is selling it, because there is the accessibility to remove or add a product like water to dilute the product.I did get my entire refund(I have to say the employee was nice and professional the entire time I requested my refund, still being nice and professional does not change the fact Stores 123 staff are underhanded and sneaky). I will not buy from Stores123 again and unless Amazon removes them as a vendor, no one else should buy from Stores123 because they try to swindle customers by intentionally selling inferior products.

A Yummy Fragrance!

This is my 3rd fragrance I purchased from Prada, This fragrance has amber in it which is not noted on the preview, anyway, my Husband loves this fragrance on me, when I first put it on I can smell a hint of amber and then it settles down to be for me an oriental powder soft and sexy scent...it is very sexy, last a long time and sure to please! This fragrance also screams passion and heat and is sure to send the pheromones on high...for you and your partner so just a touch goes a long way and is a great fragrance for date nights!! I love the perfume works like a magnet so that is all I have to say on the subject....so I would recommend this one as well... :)

Best I've seen.

As a primary care physician, I've seen a lot of BP monitors that my patients bring to the office to check for accuracy and other features. This one seems to be the best. The easy to apply cuff, auto inflation, its accuracy, the memory, the averaging feature, the AC converter all make it worth the slightly higher price over other Omrons, which I consider the most accurate brand. Since I too have high blood pressure, I decided to buy one myself!

Good Quaility Monitor

I haven't had the chance to conpare this unit to the readings at the doctors office (taking them at the same time). But I have taken readings at the drug store and then 5 min later taking it at home. It does seem to give true readings. They has never been any really off readings. No wild swings.It is very easy to use and comes with good instructions and a nice carrying case. Makes it easy to take on vacation with you. AC adapter makes it where you don't have to worry about dead batteries.

SO easy to use!

This being my first introduction to having an at home blood pressure monitor, I was relieved to find just how fast and easy it was to use. The memory keeps my record of previous 28 days readings and the printer is a added plus ....very simple to use, print and I'm off and away to have Doctor interpret. And it's so small and portable. I don't know why all physicians don't use it .

handy, helpful, affordable and accurate

This digital cuff is great for those of us that suffer hypertension. A quick slip on of your cuff, the press of a button and shazam, seconds later a dependable systolic/diastolic pressure reading accompanied by a pulse. This little baby tracks your bp for thirty days and is capable of generating a report from a thermal printer (sold separately) that you can take to your physician. It may be just the information you need to save your life.

I received this "Angel of Hope" today for Christmas from my adult son. He was unaware that my Mother, who passed 3 years ago had seen an angel 2 weeks prior to her passing. The angel was in the exact position of Angel of Hope with her hands held out in front of her as if to say "Come to me". It's beautiful and, for me, has extra special meaning. True story.
