Great UPS for my needs

I went to the APC website (www.APC.com) and used their solutions wizard to select this power supply. I highly recommend that anyone considering buying an APC UPS go to their website and use the wizard to find exactly what specs they need. When you enter the specifics for your computer, and your required back-up time, it will give you three different options to chose from. The website will also give you specifics of how each power supply will handle your power requirements. Once you get all thee information come back here, and get your product of choice for about 10-15% off. How's that for a deal? I now have a battery back up that runs my PC (AMD Athlon XP w/ 650W PS), external hard drive, 22 inch LCD monitor, my cable modem, and my wireless HUB for about 35 minutes after a power outage. Which gives me more than enough time to finish what I am doing and power down every thing if I need to. With my extended back-up time I can even work through a short power outage. I really hope that this review was helpful. I didn't get into the specifics of why you should get a back-up power supply, because I would assume that if you are reading this review, you already know the advantages.

Nice rack mount APC

I use this to support our main Windows 2003 based server. The software installed quickly and easily. I did some test runs to check out the close down procedure and they worked well. It has ample plugs (battery backed and no battery backup) on the rear on the unit. It fit in the rack with no problems. No fancy digital displays, but why do you need that. It has warning leds and the software is there to monitor for events. It has been installed about 9 months and has many storm related and work related UPS backup opportunities and so far has worked as expected.

Nice old APC UPS

The only problem with that UPS is that it doesn't work well with Active-PFC power supplies. Other than that it's a nice and durable piece of equipment.

Awesome $30 Printer

I don't have many printing needs, just the occasional Yahoo map from time to time. I bought this low-end printer without really looking into it at all. I expected a newer version of the Z13, but was really impressed with what I got.I like how solid it is, it feels a little cheap, but better then I expected from a $30 printer. The fact that allows you to have color and b&w installed together was a big shock; I never expected that from a $30 printer!For those complaining about it not coming with a black cartridge or USB cable, get over it! Its $30! The cartridges are about $20 each and cheap USB cable is about $4. Do the math, if they included those things then Lexmark would be paying you to take their printer.If you plan on buying a black cartridge or don't already have a USB cable then check-out the Z615. It is probably a better value because it comes with those things (it seems to otherwise be the same printer).

Good Cheap Printer, But...Caveat Emptor

Yes, let the buyer beware on this one. As far as I can tell (by putting the specifications and photos side-by-side) the Z611 is is identical to its "big brother" the Z615 (available for about $20 more) with these important exceptions: the Z611 comes with no black ink cartridge or USB cable...and the Z615 does. Saving a few backs by excluding a USB cable I get...but deleting the black ink cartridge? Come on, Lexmark!...I guess the printer business is a cuthroat one. Apart from that, it's a fine little printer for the price and performs well...but only makes sense if you happen to have a USB printer cable and a Lexmark #16 or #17 black ink cartridge already lying around. Otherwise, save a few dollars by buying the Z615.

Great printer for a very decent price!!!

I absolutely LOVE this printer. I had to get this printer after looking into it, because it is compatible with my computer system (Windows XP Home Edition). At first, I thought about getting the Z730 model, but had to disregard the thought because I read a number of negative reviews about it and its performance. I bought this Z611 from Wal-Mart (their price was almost $23.00). Another reason why I had to buy this printer was because the other printer my mother and I had (an Epson Stylus C80) had quit working after four years, which came with our computer system (in 2002). The Epson was a color printer and used 4 cartridges (one each of black, cyan, magenta, and yellow). It was a great printer, but the prices of ink for it were kind of mediocre; whenever a cartridge ran out of ink on the Epson, the printer could not be used until a cartridge or cartridges could be replaced, and it would be a while until more ink could be afforded. Anyway, with this Lexmark Z611 printer, the price was decent, it came with a color cartridge (#27), software, etc. Installing this machine was not a problem. Within a few minutes, it started working properly. You also get to choose your print quality, especially "Quick Print", where you can print your document out faster and use less ink. You are also given the option to print out color images in black and white to conserve color ink which is convenient (cancelling the color is also a great idea if that cartridge is low on ink or out). I mostly use "Normal"; I have used "Better" or "Best" occasionally for print quality and the result is very excellent. I learned that "Better" and "Best" print qualities provide much sharper results, but take longer to print out and use up more ink; in that case, to extend color and black ink, these latter two quality settings ("Better" and "Best") should NOT be used too often. You can also use this printer with just a color cartridge or just a black cartridge. You also get an on screen ink level monitor that shows you what your ink levels are whenever you have a print job in progress. Another wonderful thing is that you hear a voice at the beginning ("Printing started") and end of your print job ("Printing complete"). Very neat!! When I bought this printer, I decided to also get a black cartridge (#17), which was almost $20. Using only two different cartridges, one black and one color, getting ink is much easier. Color ink is in one cartridge; not multiple ones. Photo printout is excellent. I have only used plain paper to print out a couple of pictures with this printer; results are wonderful (excellent quality if you use photo paper)!! This is a wonderful printer to get because the price is decent and not one to put a flaw in your budget, and ink cartridges are easily affordable, as well. Get this printer; you won't regret it whatsoever!! UPDATE AS OF FEBRUARY, 2009--PLEASE NOTE: The ink levels for the #17 black and #27 color cartridges (these are Moderate Yield) will go down quickly if you do A LOT of printing during a few days. For a longer lasting supply of Moderate Yield ink, print sparingly, but you can buy the #16 black and #17 color cartridges. These cost more than the Moderate Yield ones, but will last longer.

Great UPS Overall

This is a great UPS overall, but it is pretty noisy. It has a constant velocity fans that runs at all times. TrippLite would be well served to have a variable rate fan that cycles RPMs based on heat dissapation requirements, which would in turn create less noise. I have this unit protecting my home server, and luckily I was able to stow it inside an enclosure to cut down on the noise.In a rack, in a computer room (which is where it would normally be placed) noise wouldn't be an issue, but I wanted the protection this offered for my home server.

Unbelievable - the ultimate gaming/graphic design LCD

Being a CRT fanatic (my NEC XP21 from 1995 was still my favorite), I never made the jump to LCD because nothing could outperform my CRT. I do a lot of graphic design and heavy-duty 3D gaming using SLI'd nVidia cards.I had a chance to evalute this monitor, so I brought my Falcon Northwest Fragbox and plugged the monitor into it. The first thing I was suprised at was that I could drive the monitor at 1900x1200 at 85hz! I then loaded up Oblivion and maxed all the settings. Throughout every combat and every over-rendered blade of grass, there was absolutely zero noticable shadowing or lag. It performed exactly like my CRT except that it looked much richer and more vibrant.I also loaded up Battlefield 2 and it handled just as well. Photoshop looked incredible as I zoomed in close to some very hi-res targas and had perfect clarity.Planar has really outdone themselves on this LCD. I've been disappointed with every other LCD on the market (including the input lag on the Samsung 24"), but this one stunned me, so I bought it.You should too...

Fantastic ! - Better than expected

I don't have any other comparison, since this is the first I have ever purchased, but I was pleasantly surprised when I received it just two days after I ordered with FREE shipping.The trainer itself is solid and works better than I could have hoped for, cost a lot less than buying an exercise bike.I am not a cyclist and bought this to simply turn a regular bike into an exercise bike.There was zero assembly required, just unfold it and place your bike in, super easy, when you want to ride the bike out on the street, it's free in less than 30 seconds.The only con I would say about this, is that it is loud if you have nobby treaded tires, from the previous review, I can see how a smooth tire would quiet it down, You do or can get use to the noise of it, However, you can also release the tire from the tension roller an ride like a regular bike.Highly Recommend, I don't think you'll be sorry on this one.

Just what I wanted.... but loud

This is just what it should be, really, and maybe it deserves 5 stars for that. The instructions were confusing because there's an extra unexplained part, but I figured it out (you don't need the extra axle). I am not a serious biker; this is just to get some exercise w/o buying an expensive piece of equipment.What I'd totally forgotten about what the noise a bike trainer makes (and this is the main reason I'm posting, in case you've also forgotten or didn't know). Looking online just now, I've seen it likened to vacuum cleaning, and that's about right. I'm not sure that any other bike trainer would be better on this front... maybe the rim trainers are. (Note: see the other review that explains that if you get other tires for your bike the noise will not be an issue. Me, I am not "serious enough" to buy other tires, much less change them.)Bottom line: this is fine. If you can deal with the noise, get it.Update (a few years later): I don't use this much any more, as I got an elliptical machine (which I prefer)... but I've realized this will be great for my summer away when I'll have my bike with me anyway. And if it's raining and I'd like some exercise, I'm all set.To answer the question from the comment, it's quite easy to put the bike in and out. If you look at the picture, there's a faux axle squeezed between two pins/clamps at the top. The faux axle was the part that confused me. (Thanks to other helpful reviewers, I now know that this is provided to protect your real axle from scratches, if you have that sort of a bike). Your bike goes there, and you just tighten the pin/clamp things to hold the bike in place. The wheel rests on the part at the bottom which might need adjusting for your particular bike, but once that's set, your bike will go in and out without much fuss.

Not enough resistance, stripped adjustment wheel couldn't be replaced easily

This is a very basic trainer with very little resistance. This really is best for beginner bikers.In addition, the tension adjustment knob is made of cheap plastic which stripped and cracked within a few weeks. When I called the company for support they said that they didn't have any extra ones that they could send me. They told me I would have to mail in the entire unit to have it replaced. It certainly wasn't worth the cost shipping for a 30-cent piece of cheap plastic.I haven't done it yet, but I'm going to take it somewhere to have a metal crank welded on to replace the cheap plastic adjustment knob. Until then, I have to use a pair of pliers to adjust the tension.The unit is easy to setup and to get the bike setup on it. I didn't need to use the extra skewer that was provided but you may if you have an older bike.I recommend you buy slick tires to use with this (and any other) trainer. I very quickly went out and bought slick tires for my mountain bike because the knobby tires makes too much noise. Even with the slicks the noise is louder than I would like, but this is not the unit making the noise - it's the vibration from the tires which you will have with any unit. Another thing that helped was setting up the trainer and bike on a set of foam floor pads to reduce tranmission of vibrations to the rest of the room.

A Perfect Fit.

I needed, nondescript, chocolate gold coins for my pirate party on Halloween night. These were perfect! I ordered three times what I actually needed, and so used some as Thank You gifts for people who assisted with the party and the rest made an evening of Poker a lot more interesting. The shipping is somewhat expensive, but if you order multiple bags in one shipment, it brings the cost per coin down considerably. However, they are worth the cost!

Good product, but beware Amazon shipping tricks

The product itself was fine and came quickly and in good shape. The shipping rate was pretty high, but I needed them quick and decided it was worth it. However, when I saw the delivery date on the confirm order page I changed the shipping to two day. But on that screen they don't show what the updated shipping cost is. The shipping came to over $50 for a 5 pound bag. Since Amazon did not show what the new shipping rate would be, I had no idea until it arrived. Interesting how we can only leave feedback for the seller or the product, but not Amazon. Love-hate :-(
