Chippewa Snake Boots

A couple months ago while wintering in Phoenix my wife and I had an encounter with a rattlesnake while we were hiking. First pair of snake boots I purchased were Rocky brand. Got two pair, one for myself and another for my wife. Both pair pinched our ankles when we walked due to the heavy thickness of the sides of the boots. Took the Rocky boots back and purchased these. Nice looking, comfortable and fairly easy to get on. My only hesitation is that no where on the box or any literature that comes with the boots does it state that they are "snake proof" or offer any guarantee or assurance that snake fangs can't penetrate. I've read other competitive product info that emphasizes "snake proof", one even offered a one million dollar liability policy and another had a You Tube video demonstrating an interaction with a live rattlesnake to demonstrate their effectiveness. Makes me wonder how snake proof these Chippewa's really are and I don't want to find out the hard way.

Great Boots.

I am very pleased with this boot. The fit was really important to him and he says they are really comfortable. The quality of leather, etc is great. We are very pleased with the purchase. (I saved over $25 even with shipping. I will take it!)

No cigar? Tough buddy, caveat emptor.

Though this boot appears to be beautifully made, it feels as if it is at least a half to a whole size too big. Regrettably, I really liked the way they looked and I thought I could remedy the problem with thicker socks. As a result, I let the return date slip. This was a serious error on my part because the sock idea did not fix the problem. Then, when I inquired of Chippewa about ways to address this situation, I was told to go to a drug store and find a fix there or "to check with the retail outlet about a possible exchange." In short, I'm on my own. Caveat emptor.So now I have a pair of beautiful $229.00 boots that I cannot wear and cannot return. I have been a textbook size 11 medium for over 30 years. This boot is not an 11 medium. What I find particularly irritating is that Chippewq demonstrated not one whit of interest in helping me solve the fit issue, despite the fact that Chippewa made the boot too large. It is my own fault for missing Amazon's return window..As for the future, I would not buy another pair of boots from Chippewa as I would trust them neither to size them correctly nor to stand behind them.It would be great if Amazon required its suppliers to meet their size declarations. That way, a customer could count on getting what he bargains for rather than risking a worthless purchase.Indeed, Chippewa is not the only firm experiencing "size drift." I recently bought a pair of wading boots to replace an identical pair made by the same manufacturer--and these turned out to be too small, despite being represented as an 11 medium., the same size as the first pair. Go figure.
