4Good replacement unit
By Alan P. Biddle
I have two kerosene heaters, a Robeson (K-Mart) which is 25+ years old, and a Kerosun which is about 10 years old. Both work perfectly, year after year, with minimal starting and no operating odor, even with old kerosene. (I do add kerosene treatment which seems to stabilize the kerosene and claims to reduce the odor.) However, the Robeson does not have a cartridge tank, and I got tired of lugging it outside to refill. The Kerosun spoiled me.The CT-1100 arrived promptly, and seems to be intermediate in quality between the Robeson and Kerosun. As expected it was smelly for the first few hours, but no significant smoke starting or stopping. After doing a dry wick burn, there is still a slight but annoying odor when operating. If I did not have the other two, I would probably consider it normal. After setting the wick, I regularly get 18+ hour burn times, which compares with the Kerosun which has the same size tank. I plan to work with it for the rest of the season, and if the odor continues, will replace the wick when warmer weather arrives. It definitely seems flimsier than those in the other two heaters. So far no real problems with good heat output and much greater convenience and safety. It compares well with the Kerosun in design, though the sheet metal is clearly of a lighter but completely acceptable gauge.

210600 btu kerosene heater
By John J.
bought two of these heaters both are the same one branded mega heat andthe other heat mate, both work as they should except the both give offodor while burning, i have two other convection style heaters that haveno smell while running, but these two radiant models do give off odor.i have dry burned the wick, unit has been adjusted just as manual saysred from top to bottom with blue flame on top , but smell is still there.any ideas to get rid of smell would be welcome, get about 11 to 12 hoursburn time from full tank, if i could get rid of odor the would be greatbuy, stick with convection type kerosene heaters they seem to burn cleaner.add on one year later, i changed the wick that came with heater to betterquality wick from miles stair wick shop , odor is no longer a problem iwas told cheap wicks are thinner and allow smell, better wicks are thicker and fill channel tighter so no smell comes through, with this newwick heater works perfectly with no odor, check out miles stair wick shopfor tons of free info on kerosene heaters.

5Good Heater, Cheap, Many Saftey Features.
By Bryan Billiet
This KeroHeat Ct-1100 Must be seasoned before normal use (all kerosene heaters do). Like a cast iron pan if you skip this it will smell and smoke. [...]. I did what the site said, and I have been quite pleased with my results. What you do is, start with a quarter tank of Kerosene, burn the heater on high for about a half hour, until the top plate is red hot. Back to low for a hour. Finally back to high for a hour and let run out of fuel. I use CLEAR kerosene and the deodorant additive as well. Don't get too fixed on a certain sent, this unit is too efficiant and you will not have the sent filling the air in your home. I also recommend the KeroHeat HMN-110 radiant and KeroHeat CV-2230 convection. **Dont forget to run the Humidifire in your home**
