It worked!

I naively planned on putting my PC in a muffled corner of my room, requiring 40 feet of cabling, up a wall, across the ceiling and back down, using two 16 foot DVI extension cables along with a normal 16 foot dvi cable. At 32 feet it worked fine, but at 48 feet the display got blurry instead of sharp. Not much "snow" effect that this box is claimed to be made to fix. That had me worried, especially given this thing's whopping price (!). There is a plastic box version out there which I avoided like the plague. This thing looks like it NASA made it. By the way, having taken it apart (see picture) there indeed are serious electronics inside and the color matched sticker on the bottom indeed hides either a switch or more likely a trim pot, which I have not played with. I installed it backwards and it didn't fry. I unplugged and replugged it a couple times with the power on and it worked fine. I even notice more clarity than with the "perfectly good" 32 feet of cable set up. The tightness of the DVI connectors matters a lot (to avoid random fall outs or vague glitches) so if you are plugging them in soon to be inaccessible areas, wiggle them like crazy to allow full tightening the retaining screws. However, since the knobs on my connector screws are soft rubber (vinyl) they stripped. The screw slot in the soft vinyl was worthless, so this was just hand-tightening. I thus unscrewed them out of the connectors and pulled the knobs off the screws and put them back on with super glue. Problem solved. The clarity of the image on my large monitor is now ridiculously sharp and high contrast. Hard edged text is the best test.

Perfect, simple tool

This DVI signal booster is exactly what I was looking for. Very simple-just plug in and use. Also, it's very small, and can be tucked out of they way. Much better than alternative choices, which can cost 1000's of dollars, take up valuable rackspace in my recording studio, and end up being overall more complicated.While I do think the price for this piece is a little steep, when I compared to other choices available, this one actually ended up being the most reasonable. Very glad I purchased, as I was much in need of a DVI signal booster, and this specific product fit the application perfectly.

I bought a SYBA 30ft DVI cable to connect my Dell 24in widescreen. With a 6ft cable the 1920X1200 resolution was awesome. With the 30ft cable the image was poor, lots of sparkles, and jumped constantly. Had to lower the resolution to 1152X864. This unit is awesome. Hooked it up according to the directions, set my resolution back to 1920X1200, and turned the adjustment scew until the image was perfect.
