Pleasantly Surprised!!!

I recently acquired a service size xdm 40. I wanted to get some night sights for it as I plan on using it as a carry gun. As a former law enforcement officer I have carried and used alot of types of night sights, tru glow, trijicons, mepro's, novak's, etc. After hearing about the xs sight system I decided I was interested. My wife got them for me as a birthday present. Installation was a little harder than I imagined but I think that's due to me not the sights. I am extremely impressed with how they have done! Super fast sight acquisition, much faster than the 3 dot I am used to. I was honestly shocked at how fast I could get on target with these. It is literally unreal. Your eyes pick up that golf ball and the rear sight seems to just fall in place. My next concern was accuracy as I know a bigger front sight has to cut down on the picture down range. There are you tube videos of guys hitting at 100yards with them and while I haven't gone that far out at 25 I can keep everything center mass and make clean head shots every time. If you're looking at these you aren't planning on them for bullseye competition anyway. They have held up great so far, and I don't baby my gear (don't trash it on purpose either, but you get the drift). They are super bright in dim/dark situations and are much faster than lining up traditional 3 dot sights. I can 100% recommend these to anyone who's thinking about sights for a carry/home defense gun. These have far surpassed my expectations in every way and I plan on getting more for all my other handguns.

As I have (unfortunately LOL) gotten older I have found that conventional handgun sights became more challenging to see and align quickly. The large dot on the XS Big Dot front sight jumps into view as soon as they come into my line of sight. The best way to illustrate how I feel about these sights is to state that while I have experimented with a number of different handguns for concealed carry, I have installed XS Big Dot sights on nine of them. Multiple this number times the price of the sights and you can appreciate the investment I have made in keeping XS Big Dot sights in my holster.

I have been using XS 24/7 Big Dot sights on my XD Subcompact (.40) since 2005. I recently purchased an XDm 4.5 inch (.40) with Springfield's standard 3 dot sights. Since I have become accustomed to carrying the full sized XDm for my EDC pistol I thought I should get a set of night sights for low-light situations.After trying a set of TruGlo TFOs in my drills for a couple of weeks (excellent sight for a 3 dot), I realized it was taking just a tiny bit longer to get that sight picture than I wanted. My first shot out of the holster was typically a "sightless" shot and I was concentrating too much on finding the notch alignment for follow-up shots as I diagonally back away from the target. I really wanted to like these sights, I really did. They are bright in all light conditions and I am very accurate with them when I take time to line everything up and squeeze the trigger.*** Just a side-note, I typically practice drawing from a concealed rig, then put two to three rounds in center mass and two to three in the head as fast as I can as I move diagonally or sideways away. Typically, this all happens within 1-2 seconds. I vary my starting distance throughout from point-blank to 10 feet (and everything in between). ***I'm only (around) 40, but it could be that my eyes are starting to go. Maybe it could be that I have just become accustomed to the XS sights on my subcompact. Or, it could be that I spaz a little when practicing rapid-draw, rapid-fire. Regardless of the reasons, I decided since this XDm was my new carry pistol I would put the XS 24/7 Big Dot sights on it as well. I could have saved a good bit of cash if I had just done that to begin with, but I really wanted to try something "new" that all the cool-kids were using (TFO sights).I ordered my sights through Amazon from Big T Products (I reviewed Big T as well - very fast shipping). What a huge difference the XS Big Dot sights make in my times and short-range rapid-fire accuracy. In medium to bright light the big white dot is easy to put on target without thought and getting a proper sight picture immediately is as easy as it gets in a timed "stressful" situation ... simply "dot the i", it's natural and just falls into place by itself.At close range the dot covers your target, at ranges a little further out the dot sits right under your target. If its dark or dim, the tritium glows a nice bright green and I use the same "dot the i" principle for getting shots on target quickly after draw. The rear sight forms a vertical line with tritium (outlined in white) and the front post is a large dot (outlined in white).I think every second counts in a dire situation. I will stick with XS 24/7 Big Dot sights for all of my pistols from now on.
