For the high stuff

Aurum Cantus G2 Ribbon TweeterAfter being amazed by the Aurum Cantus G2si in a center channel speaker, I ordered two of these G2's for my left and right front speakers in my home entertainment center, to replace 1-inch Peerless soft-dome tweeters that previously resided there. When these G2's arrived by post, I realized how heavy they are, at almost 3 pounds each. My impression was that they are very solid and well-constructed. After installing them, I was very, very pleased listening to various CD's, including electronic dance music, female vocalists, and some plain old rock, including Led Zeppelin. To say I wasn't disappointed is an understatement! I'm not an audiophile, and I haven't measured and graphed the frequency response, or any other scientific data, but over the years I've had lots of speakers I considered quite good, these are the best tweeters I've ever heard. I don't know what they're crossed over at in my 4-way speakers, as I simply used the cross-over already in place, but the sound is bright and crisp and clear. For electronic dance music especially, I've never heard anything like it.By having these in the L and R front, and a G2si in the center channel, my front sound-stage sounds seamlessly integrated. When action or dialogue moves from left to right, it sounds as if I am there myself, in the film.I paid somewhat less than Amazon's currently advertised price. I'm not exaggerating when I say that I can't imagine a situation in which I would ever have to buy another tweeter.I've heard that some discriminating listeners love ribbon tweeters and some don't like them at all. I'm in the loving 'em camp! Also, from my understanding, these tweeters go down lower than most soft-dome tweeters, which might be helpful if a person is putting together a two-way system.If it's not obvious, I give these tweeters my highest recommendation!
