Deceptive

The transfer bench in the picture is not the transfer bench they send you. The outside crossbar is no longer on this product. Carex is cutting corners. The transfer bench you receive will not last as long as the previous (pictured) model. This transfer bench will wiggle and shake during transfers before long without that bar. It is a shame a company has a solid, durable product and streamlines it to save money on production. Disappointing.

Easy, sturdy, reasonable price

I researched transfer benches and found this one. It arrived very quickly and was so easy to set up. My mom's health care people were all impressed with it. The legs were a bit short for the old claw-foot bathtub, but I bought the extension legs and now it's perfect.

This item has worked great for me since my hip replacement. It provides support when entering and exiting the tub, and because it extends outside the tub, you can lower yourself onto the bench while you are still standing on the bathroom floor. Then it's just a quick swivel to swing your legs over the edge of the tub. This is important because of that 90 degree hip precaution the therapists drill into your head. I was initially concerned water would flow off the bench and onto the floor, but found that if I positioned the bottom of the shower curtain over the section of the bench that extends outside the tub, and then actually sit on the hem of the curtain, the water runs back inside the tub. And the bench is much cheaper than those from the home medical supply stores. Yep, I'm 100% pleased with this product.
