Good but not perfect

I've purchased several Happy Mouth snaffles as a substitute for rubber bits with soft mouthed horses. Some notes of comparison-The rubber bits in my local tack store had large openings in the links joining the two halves of the snaffle. I found I could pinch a fold of skin in the joint of these rubber bits if I closed my fingers around the bit and wiggled the pieces. The Happy Mouth, in contrast, has a small joint. I wasn't able to pinch any skin. I don't know if a horse could actually pinch its mouth on the rubber bits I examined, but I didn't want to be the test pilot.-The Happy Mouth plastic is harder than rubber. As far as comfort goes the difference doesn't seem to matter to my horses, but some might care.-One of my horses destroys Happy Mouth bits. (The same horse ruined a copper mouth snaffle a few years ago too.) This particular horse has an annoying habit of chewing on bits. The result is lots of sharp toothmarks left in the plastic. Rubber bits work better for this particular horse, as rubber doesn't develop sharp burrs when chewed.-The Happy Mouth is white. I find the color useful in the tack room, as everyone else in my group uses black rubber or metal bits. I haven't had someone accidentally borrow my bridle since I started using the Happy Mouth.
