Tune-o-Matic bridge and Dean zebra humbuckers.

Classic Dean headstock with Grover tuners.

The Dean X Series The Dean X Series offers ML, V and Z style guitars at a price that won't break the bank. These guitars feature maple necks, rosewood fretboards, dual humbuckers, and plenty of Dean mojo, and are built to rock--perfect for beginners and veterans alike.

Basswood Body The MLX features a lightweight basswood body. Basswood is great for heavier rock and metal styles, delivering a nice even tone that feeds a dirt pedal (or a dimed Marshall) nicely.

Bolt-On Construction Bolt-on neck construction provides an affordable alternative to set-neck or thru-body designs. The advantage of this design is that if you do have any neck trouble down the line, you can easily replace it.

The Dimeblade's maple neck features an ultra-playable 22-fret rosewood fingerboard, with classic dot inlays.

Dean Humbucker Pickups To capture the biting tones of vintage Deans, the company includes two of its standard humbuckers, in black-and-white "zebra" style for looks as good as the sounds. And what to expect tonally? These pickups should provide more than enough bite for modern styles, along with plenty of low-end and midrange definition. The standard three-way selector allows bridge, neck, or a combination. Each pickup gets a volume pot, and they share the tone control.

Grover Tuners If you play guitar then you know what this means--solid, dependable tuning from the industry standard. These guitar machines are a triumph in engineering and style, with a gear ratio of 14:1, perfect gear meshing, and zero backlash and slippage. The gear box has a special lubricant for lifetime, trouble-free service.

Tune-o-Matic Bridge The Tune-o-Matic bridge with string-thru body design provides serious sustain, along with precise intonation for your tuning preference. The classic v-shaped plate mirrors the headstock wings for some nice vintage Dean style.

4Best axe for the buck.
By P. Steeves
Lefties, there's finally a quality guitar to be had for under a grand! Dean quality throughout and nice hardware for around $200. The Grover tuners are very good and hold a tune well. The feel of the guitar is nice, but it is a bit nose-heavy. I'd say the components are better quality than entry-level Strats, or anything else you will find for around $200.The sound of the pickups is surprisingly good, and the guitar has a decent overall tone. The first things I replaced were the strings. This was a huge improvement. The stock strings were replaced with medium Elixir Nanowebs. Noticeable difference in the sound after doing so. And I must admit that I absolutety hated the cream-colored humbuckers and replaced them with a Seymour Duncan matched pair (JB & Jazz), and installed some plastic covers over the humbuckers. The rings I installed around the humbuckers are glossy black to match the guitar body, and the covers atop the humbuckers are matte black, which sets the raised portion apart and really makes everything look mean. This setup looks great and I recommend it to anyone looking to modernize the look of this guitar. And as for the sound after the mods, I can replicate Megadeth's tone perfectly (which was my main goal), yet still have a fully dynamic range in order to play anything else I desire. For the record, I am using a Peavey VYPYR 30-watt amp, and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to take their tone further. I swapped out a Marshall 30 for this Peavey and am 100% satisfied with the sound.Unfortunately, the guitar definitely has some shortcomings. First, the guitar had a small dent on the front of the body that was painted over and clear-coated. So, it's obvious it happened at the factory but was never filled in before being painted. The blemish is about the size of a small pebble and not really noticeable unless you are looking very close. Not surprising for an item made in China. Also, the chrome saddle is bent upwards on the points, about 1/16 of an inch on both sides. I've heard of people returning their guitars and having them replaced because of this, but it's not an issue for me. If it was, I would just take it off and bend them down slightly without being without a guitar for two weeks. The fretboard needed a good cleaning because of wood putty and gunk around the fret wires. I expected I'd need to polish the fret wires anyway, so it wasn't a problem to do this.Lastly, the plastic name badge is located on the front of the head stock and says "V XL". For some reason, the name is upside down when the guitar is held. Sorry, but there's simply no excuse for that. It's the fault of either Dean being cheap by not providing a small piece of plastic printed the proper way and spending an extra 25 cents per guitar....or the person who built my guitar in China is a complete moron. Regardless, the name of the guitar is printed upside down, but it's not noticeable from more than 5 feet away or so. If it bothers you, cover it with a little sticker or something. That's what I ended up doing. All in all, you're not going to find a much better deal for a guitar. Since we're lefties and ignored by most guitar companies, Dean really deserves kudos for even bothering to make this guitar. Despite all of its shortcomings, this guitar will offer you plenty of performance while not breaking the bank. I do recommend using some of the money you save to upgrade a few of the guts. Once you do, you'll have people convinced you spent a ton of money on this thing.

5Amazing left-hand guitar
By TR627X
I purchased this guitar 2 years ago through amazon as left-handed guitars are rare in my city. Because of the price, I was expecting it to be lower in quality than most guitars. I am happy to say that I was greatly mistaken. This guitar has worked perfectly for me since I purchased it, requiring very little maintenance. I have never had a reason to sell it or trade it in for something more expensive. The sound and overall quality of the guitar is excellent, and as a result I have become a fan of Dean guitars. I recommend this guitar for any entry or mid level guitar players who are left handed and looking for a quality product.

5It's an awesome guitar with some potential to grow with you
By Edward W. Osorio
I'm an experienced guitar player, and i've been playing for 3 years now i started out with a left handed Ibanez and boy i had some ups and downs with it. this guitar is awesome as a beginner's guitar because it's a flying V that you can afford, what else do you need? i ordered it through amazon with the prime special so it came the next day and one thing i noticed is the packaging it self which kind off upset me because when i bought my second guitar online the people i ordered it from put extra boxes and padding to insure that it wont get damage, and this guitar came with no said padding just the box and that's it. the guitar itself looks great and the pickups are a good bunch but from me i use a lot of mids and highs and that's where they fall short on, however they're really good nonetheless. the neck is AMAZING for a bolt on construction, i have pretty big hands and the neck is small fits perfectly on my palm and plays fast as well (you'll love the unfinished neck it makes play much more smoother). the hardware is basic two volumes top being for neck pick up, the middle bridge and the last one tone. one thing i noticed as well when i remove the guitar from the box is that the toggle switch was loose, but tighten it back up and don't even notice the crack much. also be warned, the guitar won't come tuned but the strings are fine for factory. last flaw i found is when she's plugged up is from time to time if you're not careful the jack will pop itself out especially if you have your chord running through your strap (this prevents you from tripping over the wire or pulling it yourself). however this only happens when you sit down and play it or standing up and having it sitting on your leg. the tuners are awesome i've always like grover tuners these babies keep your guitar tuned.as the title said it'll grow with you as you start your guitar playing, as an experience player i find that this guitar works and can be used for experienced players as well. as for the pick ups like i said they're aren't for me they're a bit muffle but you can get some pretty good clean tones from the bridge but the neck fails in that part. i'd use them if you're a blues or classic 70s or 80s rock sound. if pickups are your concern i'd recommend seymour duncans i got them on both my guitars (distortion mayhem set on one and the hot rodded set on the other).you can't go wrong with this guitar and i hope my review of it helps you in buying this great guitar. now come get your wings!
