Absolutely gorgeous leather jacket
By Cathy Goden
Bought this as a Christmas gift for our college-age son while it was still available through Amazon Prime. He loves it and it really does look great on him. I normally don't care for black leather (the Fonzie thing); but the distressing on this jacket keeps it from having that shiny black leather look...sort of like it's worn through to a medium brown in small areas where it's been distressed. The calfskin has a slightly heavier, pebbled-grain texture to it which really seems to go well with the retro styling. Somehow, it has both a vintage and modern look to it. It's a shorter jacket with a trim fit, but it seems much better proportioned and not "boxy" like many of the jackets I've found at the mall. The only slight concern that I have is that, although the calfskin is very soft, the entirety of the jacket feels a little bit stiff. That's straight from the box though; so I'm sure that it'll loosen up with wear as leather always does. Small complaints? I wish it had an inch or two more in length. Also, the zipper doesn't move very smoothly; however, after a few zips it does move more easily.SIZING: Our son usually wears a medium; however, to be sure before I ordered, I double-checked on the AndrewMarc.com website where they have a fairly complete sizing chart (chest size, arm length, waist measurement, etc). Based on the chart, I did order the medium and it fits him very well with enough room for a couple of light layers or a thicker hoodie underneath. Our son is 6'3" and, as a marathoner, is very slim through the waist and hips. However he also works out so has muscular shoulders. While I wouldn't necessarily say that the jackets "run small" in sizing, I would suggest that if you usually tend to fit between sizes or have a little extra "love handles," that you probably should opt for the higher end of your size range. This is mainly because the jacket has such a trim fit.One somewhat strange issue with this jacket are the price changes over the past few weeks. I bought it from Amazon Prime for $358 on November 27. A week or two later and the price had dropped over $100 (although only 1 or 2 sizes were still in stock). Very quickly it completely sold out on Amazon Prime. Now this third party seller has all the sizes available and the price is up to $395. Still, that price is great compared to the original price of the jacket.
