Compact Monitor System Product Description:
- Dual satellite speakers and a subwoofer
- 5W per channel to the Left/Right channels, 15W to the sub
Product Description
The TASCAM VL-S21 is an affordable monitoring system for home recording and practicing. This self-powered satellite system provides 5W per channel to the desktop speakers and 15W to the ported sub. The desktop speakers are also remarkably thin, allowing these stylish speakers to be used at home or in the studio. The left and right speakers use NXT technology drivers for full-range sound in a thin driver package. This approach improves on the traditional woofer and tweeter design by eliminating the phase cancellation that occurs when using multiple drivers and crossovers. NXT technology drivers provide wider dispersion, more uniform loudness and reduced room interaction than competing technologies. A single NXT driver covers a wider range than traditional drivers, reducing the phase distortion caused by using multiple drivers and crossovers. Unlike multimedia speakers designed for listening to MP3s and video games, the VL-S21 was designed with a flat frequency response for critical listening and mixing. They're ideal for home recording studios, practicing with Tascam's CD Trainers, or monitoring desktop and laptop computer recording systems. Created for musicians looking for an affordable speaker system that doesn't take up a lot of desk space, the VL-S21 is an excellent entry-level monitoring solution.

Good, solid product for a begginer in mixing/studio work

these "monitors" are pretty good, i read some not so good reviews about them , however they turned out to be pretty decent. For the amazingly low price compared to other monitors these ones do the job pretty well. Now, im no expert at sound engineering yet i noticed that the monitors provide a fairly accurate depiction of what a real mix would sound like. I reccommend these to any "garage bands" and solo artists who need to produce a demo/EP. Again its not top top top quality, thats why i gave it a 4, also i have had these for a short time now so i dont particulary know the durabilty /longevity of the product. Good buy, solid item, tascam never lets you down.

incredibly flat response unlike others in its class

I was at the MacWorld trade show this week and noticed how many horrible sounding small computer speakers (with subwoofer) are out on the market for both your computer and your iPod.The Tascam booth had a refreshing sound from these speakers...no heightened upper midrange that gives music a bad sounding digital "CRRunch". These were smooth and flat. I've been looking for a pair ever since hearing them at the booth...and that's with a LOT of competing ambient noise. I can't wait to hear them in my quiet apartment.
